The Church & Sons Family

Longtime LakeVille Community Schools Supporters
The Church & Sons Family are entering the LakeVille Hall of Honor because of their unwavering support to the LakeVille School District for fifty-six (56) plus years. Gerald and Wanda, the parents of Eddie, Duane, Mike Rick, Melinda and Terry, opened the Church and Sons Auto Repair Shop in Otisville in 1961. To this day, the auto shop remains a Church family business that supports the school district in many different ways.

Over the years, the Church family has given countless numbers of donations and sponsorships to many different community organizations. LakeVille’s athletic teams, marching and symphonic bands, student councils, athletic and music booster clubs, the Otisville Little League, LakeVille youth football and Cheer, LakeVille’s youth soccer program and many others have all received these financial contributions that help keep these programs afloat. More importantly than their financial support, they have also provided emotional support of our school district to many of the community members, through both good times and bad. Community members know that when they walk into the Church and Sons’ Auto Shop, they better not verbalize anything negative about the LakeVille Community Schools or they may be asked to take their auto needs elsewhere.

They are staples in our community fundraising events, such as the Deer Camp Dinner and all of our golf outings that are organized to help fund our programs. Not only do they support these events by attending, they always offer to sell tickets at their auto shop and to provide as many door prizes as needed. These are only few of the many examples of the Church family’s support.

It is not out of the ordinary for coaches or teachers to be dining within the community and one of the Church family members to secretly pay for their bill; or, to offer their time and personal vehicle to transport LakeVille students to camps several hours away, as Gerald did for our basketball team in the early 90s. These special instances of support will always go without public recognition but are truly what make the Church family special to our community.

The Church family has worked together to provide unwavering support to the LakeVille Community School District and have certainly made a significant impact on our community worth of induction into the LakeVille Hall of Honor.
